Mike Smith, in charge of the coin dozer game this year, sets out the various prizes children and adults can win during the carnival. While this was not his first time in Marshalltown, it was his first time in the Second Street parking lot. Smith looks forward to returning to the familiar location next to the Marshall County Courthouse. “I like that other spot a lot better,” he said. “But you gotta do what you gotta do.”
Scott Amusements returned for the annual Oktemberfest festival yesterday afternoon in the Church Street and Second Street parking lot. The carnival was moved this year because of the downtown streetscape project. Families can go on the rides, play the games and enjoy the familiar fair food, such as funnel cake and fresh-squeezed lemonade, beginning today at 5 p.m.
