MCS got talent: Annual Christian school showcases variety of talents
The annual MCS Royals Talent Show took place yesterday at the Marshalltown Christian School (MCS). The talents displayed in the 17 acts were eclectic, ranging from two students drawing a sloth hanging from a tree to singing the “Hero” song by Mariah Carey, from building a police battle bot with Legos to two students doing science experiments, from giving a lesson on how to build a proper paper airplane to a “Moonlight” harp solo.
MCS Head of School Bethany Wirin said the show came together in the last few weeks. The organizers were students in fifth through eighth grades. She said they dedicated lunch and recess time to the show, auditioning acts and watching practices.
“We had almost twice as many acts this year as we did last,” Wirin said. “I think it turned out great. I’m really happy. They always pull it off.”
Since there is only an hour for the show, she said the max number of acts they can show is 17, but she is hoping more students will be interested for next year.
