LE GRAND — Gusty winds across Marshall County caused various damages on Wednesday, including knocking over the gas pump overhang at the Phillips 66 in Le Grand. Sheriff Joel Phillips told the T-R that at 1:11 p.m., Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies, the Le Grand Fire Department, and Le Grand EMS were dispatched to the gas station for a report of an overhead gas pump awning partially collapsing on a vehicle, which was occupied by a passenger and two dogs. The passenger was initially unable to exit the vehicle due to mobility issues. Deputies were able to assist the passenger, who did not sustain injuries, out of the vehicle.

He also reported that due to the continuing high winds, Phillips 66 will remain closed until the canopy can be removed. Occupants of the vehicle were from Wisconsin and traveling through the area. The Marshalltown Police and Community Team (MPACT) was contacted to assist the motorists by transporting them and their two dogs to Marshalltown for an overnight stay until their vehicle could be removed from underneath the overhead canopy.

No additional injuries were reported, and no fuel leakage occurred from the fuel island.

Starting at $4.38/week.
