High water in Marshall County

The Iowa River’s “Lake Marshalltown” once again filled itself with flooding caused by heavy rains last Thursday and Friday. The crest happened on April 5 at 10 a.m. with a reading of 18.2 feet. By Tuesday, April 7, the water had lowered by at least 1.5’ and continues to recede slowly.
A private land area south of Albion shows centuries old river course changes. The land tells stories of flood events way older than human history.
