Hoglan students participate in National Walking Day event
Although it was originally supposed to be held last week in conjunction with National Walking Day before inclement weather interrupted those plans, students at Hoglan Elementary School in Marshalltown got their steps in on Tuesday morning as they paced out to Timber Creek Park and walked around the pond, while younger students walked around the Hoglan track.
“This is the third consecutive year we have embraced National Walking Day. We never know what the weather will be like in early April so we always try to have a rain date. All Hoglan Staff and Students are invited to participate. We start the day with a brisk 30 minute walk enjoying fresh air and socializing with students and staff,” Hoglan Principal Amy Williams said. “Today was a chilly day, but we managed to get in 30 minutes of walking! This is a great way to share the positive impact of walking, how it wakes up your brain, and how it can energize us for a great day of learning.”
