Rosie Foster, 88
Rosie Foster, 88, formerly of Marshalltown IA, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, in Lakeland, FL. She was born in Dubuque IA, October 3, 1928, to Clarence and Bess Beyer. After graduating as a RN, she was employed at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. She enjoyed taking care of the newborn babies in the OB Department Nursery for many years. After retiring from MMSC, she later moved to Aurora, CO and enjoyed living there for 19 years. In December 2016, she moved to Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Val L Avery; second husband Orville Foster and her first great grandson Alex Avery.
She is survived by her son; Val M. Avery (Marolyn) Pleasant Hill, IA; daughters: Lynn Avery Boswell Walters (John), Bartow, FL and Vickie Avery, Las Cruces, NM, stepson; Gary Foster, Newton, IA, stepdaughter; Julie Foster Dolle (Darin), of CA, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was a member of Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, American Legion Auxiliary, MMSC Auxiliary and various service groups and nursing organizations both in Marshalltown and Aurora, Co.
A private Graveside service will be held May 6, 2017, at Montour, IA Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any favorite SPCA or Humane Society. Anyone wishing to contact the family may do so to Lynn Walters, 1760 Saddlewood Dr., Bartow, FL 33830.
