Connie Sue McFarland (Glenney), 71, of Des Moines, passed away in the comfort of her own home on July 22, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held on August 4, 2018, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with a public visitation held one-hour prior. Connie was born on April 4, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Wendell and Velma (Miller) Glenney. Connie attended Marshalltown Schools.
In 1965, Connie met Robert “Bob” Katschor by answering an ad for a live-in nanny for him and his three young children. The two were married December 26, 1967. During their 11 years of marriage, they raised Bob’s children as well as being blessed with their daughter Natalie in 1969.
Connie loved taking the family camping and spending time on the family’s boat, often inviting close friends to join them. Connie also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and fabric painting.
In 1981, Connie met her soulmate, Fred McFarland, and they were married April 6, 2002. They both shared a love for camping, country music, throwing darts and shooting pool.
She was an avid dog lover and was inseparable from her two “kids” Bruiser and Daisy.
Connie touched many people in her life and will be mourned by countless friends and family.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Natalie (Greg) Nason; step-children: David Katschor, Leslie Katschor, and Janice (Dan) Anderson; grandson, Connor Nason; siblings: Donald (Lola) Glenney, David (Julie) Glenney; her beloved friend June Lentzkow and her “kids” Bruiser and Daisy.
Connie is preceded in death by her soulmate Fred; her first husband Bob; parents Wendell and Velma; her only sister Sharon Mitchell and brothers John Glenney and Rick Glenney.
