Delores “Dee” Boeke, 88, of Hubbard, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, at Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, Iowa.

Funeral service for Dee Boeke will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 18, at the Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, at the Salem United Methodist Church.

Delores (Dee) Elizabeth Boeke was born on April 2, 1930, to John and Helen (Saner) Tempel in Blairsburg, IA.

She attended school in Williams, Galt, Hampton and graduated from Popejoy High School. She graduated from LaJames Beauty College, working in Iowa Falls.

On September 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lowell Boeke, of Hubbard. They lived on a farm near Hubbard for 13 years then moved into town.

Dee owned and operated beauty shops in Iowa Falls and Hubbard. She also helped Lowell manage two restaurants they owned. After closing her beauty shops, she worked as a bookkeeper for Held’s John Deere, Radcliffe Coop and United Suppliers.

Dee bred and raised Appaloosa horses since 1954. She enjoyed showing them in many states winning many ribbons and trophies. Dee also competed at the World and National Shows with her horses.

She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard.

Dee is survived by her son Michael (Marilyn), of Runnells, IA; grandson, Christopher (Jessica) Boeke, of Altoona, IA; four great-granddaughters: Natalie and Makenzi Boeke, Madalyn and Makayla Waage, of Altoona, IA; sister Vivian (Dean) Nelson, of Ames, IA; nieces Cathy (Tom) Cousens, of Plano, TX and Lori (Steve) Fuqua, of Des Moines, IA; and nephew Greg Nelson, of Plano, TX.

Dee was preceded in death by her father John Tempel, mother Helen (Saner) Tempel Hackbarth and husband Lowell Boeke.
