Russell Edgar Karsjens, 96

Russell Edgar Karsjens, 96, of Maple Grove, MN, passed away on March 25, 2019. Preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Esther Madsen Karsjens; brother, Lester Karsjens. Russell is survived by his wife of 73 years, Louise Finger Karsjens; children: Brian (Barb) Karsjens, Paula (Gashaw) Abebe, Debra (Ted) Boal, Gail (Rick) Veldkamp, Beth (Steve) Potter; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Russell was born March 10, 1923, in Britt, Iowa. He moved to Steamboat Rock, Iowa, at age 2. He served in the US Army during WWII as part of the Army Airways Communications Service on Attu, Alaska. On June 19, 1946, he married Louise Finger in Steamboat Rock. He attended Bradley University Watchmaker School and worked as a watchmaker and jewelry store owner in Iowa Falls, Iowa, until 1956. He then went to work for Iowa Electric Light and Power Company until his retirement in 1985. Russell was a great husband and father who loved family vacations, camping and fishing. He was a man of God who served in his church, with Wycliffe Bible Translators, Navigators and SEND International.

Memorial service 11 AM Saturday at EDINBROOK CHURCH (4300 Edinbrook Pky. Brooklyn Park, MN) with a visitation one hour prior. Interment 11 AM Monday at Steamboat Rock Cemetery (Iowa) followed by a visitation and reception at First Baptist Church. www.kozlakradulovich.com 763-416-0016.
