Born on March 27th, 1928, at Marshalltown, she was one of seven children born to Vincent and Florence (Hoffman) Schoborg. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Marshalltown in 1945.

On May 3rd, 1948, she was united in marriage to Maurice Stalzer at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill. They made Haverhill their home where they raised eight children. Following Maurice’s passing, she began working at Drugtown in Marshalltown and then Hy-Vee, retiring after 15 years and gaining the status of the “Find it Lady” — the person who directed you to the item you were looking for in the store.

Vivian treasured her family and the times spent together. She enjoyed ice cream with grandchildren, trips to the casino, baking cookies and activities of her church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Connie Severe, of Marshalltown, Randy (Jan) Stalzer, of Bradenton, FL, Russ (Carol) Stalzer, of Houston, TX, Greg (Terri) Stalzer, of Marshalltown, Jerry (Pam) Stalzer, of Garwin, Lisa Cowan (Dave), of Haverhill and Reggie (Amy) Stalzer, of West Des Moines as well as 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, her only surviving sibling, Rose Stalzer of Grandview Heights and Cathy Wiseman, who has been a dear part of Vivian’s life. Also surviving are many nieces (including Betty Stanton who was so very special to her), nephews, cousins and friends.

In death, Vivian rejoined her beloved Maurice who passed away in 1992; her parents Vincent and Florence; son Phillip who died at birth and son Michael who passed away in 1978, and siblings: Herman and Ray Schoborg, Frances Stalzer, Rita White and Mary Kopel.
