Both died peacefully after short illnesses and were surrounded by their children.

After 67 years of marriage, theirs was a love that could not be separated so as it should be, they are together again in heaven.

Gene proudly served in the US Navy for both WWII and the Korean War, and retired from Allstate Insurance after 25 years. He loved singing in numerous chapters of barbershop choruses.

Joyce’s greatest joy was raising her children and volunteering at St. Francis Hospital.

They are survived by Kathleen (David) Thompson, of Marshalltown IA, Deborah (James) Wirth, of Greendale WI and Michael (Marie) O’Shea, of Cudahy, WI. They were Gramma and Papa to Paul Thompson and Shawn (Mariah) O’Shea.

Private family services will be held at the VA cemetery in Union Grove at a later date.
