Rick was born on March 28, 1958, in Marshalltown, IA, the son of Johnnie and Doris (Atcher) Vaughn. He grew up in Marshalltown before moving to a farm near Colo where he graduated from the Colo High School with the Class of 1976. He married Jolene Klinefelter and the couple later divorced. Rick owned and operated Rick Vaughn Construction and lived in several area communities, most noteworthy were Albion, Liscomb, Eldora and New Providence. Even though Rick’s passion was carpentry, he knew everyone and helped anyone – especially children. He coached Little League baseball while living in Albion; and, one year, his team won the County Little League Championship. Rick also enjoyed entertaining kids by juggling while riding his unicycle. He loved making Christmas yard decorations for his family and others – but most of all he loved his family, neighbors and friends.
