Born Janice Kay Waltemeyer on March 3, 1937, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Mansell “Curly” and Evelyn Waltemeyer. She graduated from Marshalltown High School. Janice was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Snyder Sr. on September 16, 1961, in Omaha, NE until his passing in 2004. Together they resided in Dunbar and raised 5 children.

Janice had a faith that was unshakeable and many of her interests revolved around the church. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and Dunbar Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school several years. She enjoyed taking care of her best friend and sister in Christ, Betty. Janice loved being a Girl Scout leader, cutting coupons and sending cards to her loved ones. She adored her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an incredibly strong woman with a positive outlook on life. She always accepted life as it happened and her favorite saying was “it is what it is.” Janice’s heart was so big and even in her final days, she wanted to make sure that her family and the other residents were going to be ok.
