Chuck was born November 18, 1935, to Ray and Vernie (Sears) Pennington in Derby, IA. He attended school in the Marshalltown area. At age 16, he started working at Lennox until he entered the United States Air Force, where he spent 20 years serving his country, retiring in 1974. Chuck was united in marriage to Gertrude “Dottie” Brown on April 18, 1956, in Tucson, AZ. After his retirement from the military he worked for ACI, Anderson Electric, which became Ethington Heating and Cooling in Marshalltown. Chuck enjoyed woodworking and made several items such as rocking horses, desks, cradles and toys which have been passed down through generations. He loved fishing and often held fish fry’s to feed his entire family. Chuck was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved watching football. He and his wife loved to winter in Texas.

Chuck will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Dottie; three children: Linda (David) Schroeder, of San Antonio, TX, Brad (Kathy) Pennington, of Marshalltown, Audrey (Skip) McConnell, of Eldora, IA; eleven grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Glennis Steward, of Branson, MO.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Stotts; a grandson, Daniel Schroeder; a great granddaughter, Chyanne Wind; two brothers: David Pennington and Danny Pennington and a sister, Audrey Dooley.
