Debra “Deb” Kay Klocksiem Tychsen, 67

Debra “Deb” Kay Klocksiem Tychsen, 67, of Marshalltown, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Cremation rites have been accorded per the wishes of Deb and her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with burial in Paton, Iowa. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Deb and her family. Memorials may be directed to the family. Deb was born on April 17, 1953 in Fort Dodge to parents Dr. Roy G. Klocksiem (United States Navy Veteran) and M. Lucille (Sheppard) Klocksiem. She attended school in Rockwell City until they moved to Marshalltown in 1969. Deb graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1971 and went on to attend Marshalltown Community College until 1973. In 1977, Deb was united in marriage to David Tychsen and they later divorced in 1991. Deb loved horses and theatre and was an active member of the Marshalltown Community Theatre. In her free time, she enjoyed reading books, watching Hallmark movies and playing with her dog and cats. Deb especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite memories was marching for the Bobcat Marching Band in Pasadena, California, where they marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl, where she played piccolo and flute. Deb was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Alissa Baker and Vanessa Jongma; grandchildren: Dakota, Terren, Xavier, Bristol, Izaiah, Ava and Axton; great-grandchildren: Zaelie and Emery; her siblings: Penelope (Jim) Hall, Pamela Klocksiem, Robert Kocksiem and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Deb is preceded in death by her father in 1967 and mother in 2000 and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
