Walter “Wally” E. Finch was born on November 8, 1951 in Peoria, Illinois; the son of Walter J. and Ruth A. (Werner) Finch. He grew up in Illinois and Iowa, moving to Iowa when he was eleven. After high school, he joined the United States Army and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1971. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary, in July of 1971. Wally worked many different jobs over the years. He loved the outdoors: riding his Harley, fishing, hunting, barbequing, hunting morel mushrooms, and then cooking all the things he’d bring home to share with anyone that would eat them. He belonged to the ABATE Motorcycle Club and loved hanging out with his many friends. In retirement, he moved to Arizona for Mary’s health. He loved having family and friends visit so he could share the things he enjoyed about living out there.

Wally is survived by his beloved wife Mary; son, Arnie (Sharon) Finch; daughter, Teresa Ahrens; grandchildren: Haley Finch, Lauryl Wilkins (Chance) and Kassie Wilkins; one great-grandson, Christopher; mother-in-law, Betty Blunk; his siblings: Connie (Paul) Zobel, Bitsy (Steve) Hall, and foster brother, Bill (Gloria) Shatzer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Glenn Blunk and son-in-law, Mike Ahrens.
