Born March 5, 1928 in Marshalltown, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lucille Grabenbauer and sister to the late Phil Grabenbauer.

She graduated from St. Mary Catholic School and was employed at Fisher Controls for 11 years. She was an avid quilter and loved music, playing in the Marshalltown municipal band when she was young and as an organist and keyboarder at St. Mary Catholic Church for a number of years. She served as the founding secretary for the Emergency Food Box as well as volunteering with Iowa River Hospice, House of Compassion, and Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her four children, Mike Welsh (Anne), Dave Welsh (Kathy), Pat Welsh, and Mary Clover (Chris); her sister-in-law Alice Grabenbauer; her six grandchildren Christopher (Alaina), Teresa (Adam), David (Katrina), Angel, Alex and Nevaeh; and her five great grandchildren Nathan, Joanna, Emma, Lucia and Rowan. She was proceeded in death by her former husband, Leo Welsh.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown from 9:30-10:30am with funeral Mass immediately after. Burial at Timber Creek Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Liz may be made to the St. Francis Good Samaritan Fund or Catholic Relief Services.
