Dennis (Denny) Sienknecht, 81

Dennis (Denny) Sienknecht, 81, of Spirit Lake, passed away Saturday, January 28, at Lakes Regional Health Care surrounded by family.

Dennis Wayne Sienknecht was born January 13, 1942, in Grundy Center, Iowa, to Wayne and Mae (Oaks) Sienknecht. He graduated from Gladbrook High School and married Barbara Jean Froistad on October 15, 1961. Dennis farmed with his father for most of his adult life and worked in construction after retiring from the farm.

Many summers were spent traveling around central Iowa playing fastpitch softball with many of the same families for nearly 25 years, developing life-long friendships. Denny was also an avid bowler for many years. He was very proud of the fact that he rolled the first 300 game at Gladbrook Bowl. Denny was an avid walleye fisherman, taking many trips to northern Minnesota and Canada to catch the big one. Dennis always considered himself a dog-lover with faithful four-legged companions always at his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Barbara.

Left to cherish is memory are his daughters: Sherri (Rick) Reinking, of Spirit Lake; Terri Wheeler, of Gladbrook, Iowa; and Kimberly Sienknecht, of Spirit Lake; son Mark Sienknecht, of Spirit Lake; Brother Dale (Deborah) Sienknecht, of Spirit Lake; Grandchildren: Andrew (Jessica) Reinking, Jerod (Samantha) Reinking, Hope (Chris) Judkins, Cassie (Justin) Graham and Brandon (Amy) Wheeler; Great grandchildren: Ali, Leah and Cate Reinking; Rory Reinking; Shawn Hagele, Bradley and Korban Kelly and Tucker Judkins; Braydon, Parker, Justin Jr. and Brooke Graham; Kirra Sage, Guster and Luna Wheeler.
