Gail F. Murray, 84, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA. Celebration of life and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi – St. Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. A vigil service will follow the visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to your favorite charity in honor of Gail. Anderson Funeral Homes of Marshalltown has been entrusted with the arrangements. Gail was born October 6, 1940, to Charles and Sylvia (Clawson) Hudon. She was raised in Glen Ellyn, IL. After graduation she furthered her education at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Ia. During this time she met Jack at a dance in Spillville, Ia. The two were united in marriage on November 26, 1960, in Glen Ellyn, IL. After a couple of moves they settled in Marshalltown in 1967. Gail was a gracious homemaker and raising her children was of the most importance. Once her kids were grown, she began working for Younker’s in Marshalltown, a job she adored.
Gail was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi – St. Henry Catholic church for many years. She enjoyed coffee with friends and a good game of bridge. Her greatest treasure was time spent with her family no matter where she was.
Gail will be missed by her husband of 64 years, Jack, of Marshalltown, her children; John (Lee) Murray of Marshalltown, Chuck (Marylynn) Murray of Ely, IA, and Kathy (Rob) Hammer of Story City, IA, brother-in-law Pat Murray of Chicago, and Paul (Carolyn) Murray of Wagga Wagga, Australia, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sylvia, her sister, Karen Hudon, her brother-in-law, Tom Murray, and her sister-in-law, Mary El Lensing.
