Harold Cline

Harold Cline, 99, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. A nearly centenarian, Harold lived a life marked by quiet heroism, service, and devotion to family, faith, and community. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Inurnment will follow services at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Born at home in Mount Auburn, Illinois, to parents Susan Christie (Parris) Cline and James N. Cline, Harold later moved to Cedar Rapids with his mother after his parents’ divorce. He graduated from McKinley High School and worked several jobs to help support his family.
In 1944, Harold enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII as an Aviation Ordnance man Second Class. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Iowa, studied Animal Husbandry at Iowa State and helped run his family's businesses Model Hatchery and Model Western Wear where he mastered the leather craft business before launching a lifelong career in photography.
In 1951, Harold married the love of his life, Ardell Jackson, and together they built a life of love and purpose in Marshalltown, raising their daughter, Cindy, and running Cline Photo for more than 50 years. Harold was a gifted photographer whose work was published across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
He was also deeply involved in the Marshalltown Noon Kiwanis Club, where he served faithfully for nearly 40 years, organizing countless events and charitable efforts.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Galen Pille) Harrison; grandchildren, Melissa Hochuli and Jared (Sarah Moy) Harrison; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jayden Hochuli & Max and Willis Harrison; and sister, MaryAnn (John) Boriskey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger, and his beloved wife of 66 years, Ardell.
Memorials may be directed, in Harold’s name, to Marshalltown Noon Kiwanis or Iowa River Hospice.
