Dennis L. Kluesner, 78, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa, with Angela Doty officiating. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, Dubuque, Iowa, is assisting the family. Military Honors will be accorded.
Dennis was born on September 21, 1946, in Elkader, Iowa, the son of Leander “Lee” and Meta Kluesner. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war, serving from May 1967 to March 1970, and earned several medals for his service.
Dennis was the type of person that was stubborn and direct, yet people loved being around him. He always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face. He had an incredible ability to find joy in the simple things in life, such as his trips to Wal-Mart, chocolate shakes, and of course, his Mountain Dew. Most of all, he loved his family at Iowa Veteran’s Home that cared for him for the past 17 years. His resilience in the face of his many challenges was inspiring.
Dennis is survived by his sister, Dixie (J.J.) Jackson; sister-in-law Nancy Kluesner; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Meta Kluesner; step-mother Alvera Kluesner; and two brothers, David and Daniel Kluesner.
The impact he made on everyone will last forever. The memories we have of him, we will hold dear to our heart. His spirit will guide us forever.
