Ronnie Snyder

CW4 Ronnie Dean Snyder, age 75, of Marshalltown, Iowa, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the evening of October 3, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown with his family at his side. Ron had been diagnosed with AML in January 2025 and passed from complications of blastomycosis.

A Mass of Traditional Roman Catholic Burial for Ron will take place on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at St. Augustin Catholic Church in Des Moines. A graveside will take place at 2:00 P.M. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter with full military honors. A visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Ronnie was born on December 13, 1949 in Jefferson, Iowa at Greene County Hospital. He was the oldest of four children born to Delbert Dean and Roberta Jean (Seeley) Snyder. Ron grew up in Yale, Iowa and attended school in the YJB school district. He was a graduate of the Yale-Jamaica-Bagley High School Class of 1968. He furthered his education at Iowa State University for one year until enlisting in the United States Army. While on tours of active duty, Ron was proud to have served in four combat zones and served for 40 years. Following his time in active service, he became a pilot in the Iowa National Guard where he later retired.

On April 15, 1995 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Amy Matejcik at St. Paul’s Church in Des Moines, Iowa. They began their life together in Marshalltown, Iowa and raised their three children, Robbie, Lucas and Michael. Outside of the Iowa National Guard, Ron worked for the Marshalltown Fire Department as the fire marshal later retiring in December 2004.

Outside of work he was involved with the Central Iowa Camera Club, Iowa Association of Arson Investigators, and the 282nd Black Cat Association from his service in Vietnam. In his free time, Ron enjoyed doing photography alongside his wife Amy, going golfing, playing pool, boating with the family and going for rides on his motorcycle. In his younger years, Ron enjoyed racing go-karts competitively.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Amy Snyder; his loving children, Robbie Snyder, Lucas Snyder and Michael (Eva Hernandez) Snyder; his mother, Roberta Snyder; his siblings, Gary (Stacia) Snyder, Roger (Brenda) Snyder and Cindy Kinnick; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.

In Eternal Life, Ron rejoins his father, Delbert Snyder; mother and father-in-law, Paul (Carol) Matejcik; brothers-in-law, Bryan Kinnick and Jeff Matejcik; and numerous aunts and uncles.
