PREP FOOTBALL: AGWSR blanks Clarksville, 38-0
ACKLEY — The AGWSR football team won a 8-man District 2 football game over Clarksville on Friday 38-0 at home.
The Cougars (4-3, 2-2) did mot of their damage on the ground, with Alec Stahl leading the way with 64 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown. Liam Stubbe also had a score for AGWSR, totalling 10 carries for 55 yards.
Joe Wiarda also chipped in a score from the defensive end, picking off a pass from the Indians (2-5, 1-3) and taking it to the house.
Stubbe was the leading Cougar defender with 11 solo tackles and three assists, while Lucas Starr had eight solo and three assists.
AGWSR takes on Janesville on the road this week, before finishing up its season against North Iowa in two weeks.
South Tama falls to Decorah, 49-6
TAMA — The South Tama football team lost a Class 3A District 3 game to Decorah on Friday night 49-6.
Trojans (2-5, 1-4) senior quarterback Lane Koch went 11-for-15 passing for 151 yards and an interception in his final home game. Colton Vest finished with four catches for 62 yards, while Brady Fritz had two receptions for 57 yards and Tanner Probasco hauled in four catches for 43 yards.
Probasco and Mario Moncada led South Tama defensively, with Probasco finishing with 10 solo tackles and two assists and Moncada earning 10 solo tackles against the Vikings (5-2, 3-2).
