PREP FOOTBALL: HLV runs away from Colo-NESCO 63-14

VICTOR — The Colo-NESCO football team lost only its second game of the season with a 63-14 loss to 8-Man District 5 rival HLV on Friday. The big-play Warriors (6-2, 5-0) scored off a punt return, kick return and frumble recovery.

Garrett Packer had 49 yards rushing and a score in the loss, while Philip Bower ran for 127 yards on 21 carries for the Royals (5-2, 4-1). Packer was leading tackler for the Royals with four solo stops and eight assists, while Bryce Niemeyer had two solo tackles, nine assists, two tackles for loss and one quarterback sack.

Meskwaki falls in abbreviated game

MESKWAKI — The Meskwaki football team lost 30-8 to Twin Cedars an 8-Man District 5 game shortened to two-and-a-half quarters because of the weather.

Taurice Grant went 6-for-17 passing for 58 yards and two interceptions for the Warriors (0-7, 0-5). Grant was also the leading rusher for Meskwaki, going for 47 yards and a touchdown off 11 carries. Taté Bear hauled in all six completions from Grant for 58 yards.

Defensively, Miko Youngbear led the Warriors with five solo tackles and one assist against the Sabres (3-4, 2-3).
