PREP FOOTBALL: West Marshall rolls Saydel 46-8

DES MOINES — The West Marshall football team earned another Class 2A District 3 win over Saydel on the road on Friday, winning 46-8.

Quarterback Cameron Bannister had 201 yards passing for the Trojans (5-3, 3-2), as well as two passing touchdowns. He also led West Marshall in rushing with 88 yards and two scores on 18 carries against the Eagles (4-4, 1-4).

Josh Larsen was the leading receiver with two catches for 61 yards, while Beau Coberley had three catches for 54 yards, including two touchdowns.

Chase Burr was the leading defender for the Trojans with eight solo tackles and four assists, while Levi Randall had six solo tackles and two assists.

North Tama beats GMG on short week

GARWIN — Despite playing a division road game on the road after just playing on Monday, the North Tama football team was able to come away with a victory on Friday, taking down Class A Division 5 foe GMG 37-6.

Hale Hulme had an effective day passing for the Redhawks (3-5, 2-4) with 226 yards through the air and three touchdowns while completing 16 of his 22 passes.

Hulme was also the leading North Tama rusher, carrying the ball 13 times for 84 yards and three more scores against the Wolverines (0-8, 0-6).

Tyler Morrison was the leading Redhawk receiver with six catches for 110 yards and a score, while Nic Sierra and Cael Even each also caught a touchdown.

Defensively, Zach Greiner led the way with six solo tackles and four assists, while Ryan Mclean had five solo tackles and three assists.

Cougars defeated by Janesville 59-20

JANESVILLE — The AGWSR football team lost an 8-man Division 2 game on the road on Friday to Janesville, 59-20.

Alec Stahl was the most effective passer for the Cougars (4-4, 2-3), going 7-for-15 through the air with 119 yards and a touchdown. Liam Stubbe was the beneficiary of most of those passes, catching five balls for 103 yards and two scores against the Wildcats (5-2, 3-1).

Stahl was also the defensive leader for AGWSR with eight solo tackles and three assists, while Lucas Starr had one solo tackle and 11 assists.
