SPORTS SHORTS: Comets shock No. 15 Royals in Colo, 51-46
COLO — The BCLUW girls basketball team pulled off the upset on the Class 1A No. 15 Colo-NESCO girls on Saturday, winning on the road, 51-46.
The Comets (8-8) trailed by nine points after the first quarter but stormed out to take the lead in the second by outscoring the Royals (13-3) 17-4 in the frame.
Lauren Anderson was the lead scorer for BCLUW with 23 points, followed by Madison Ubben with 13.
Rylee Purvis had 19 points to lead Colo-NESCO, followed by Faith Vincent with 17.
Trojan girls down Hawks for fifth straight win
WOODWARD — The West Marshall girls basketball team won its fifth straight game on Saturday night by taking down Woodward-Granger, 56-35.
Isabelle Gradwell was the top scorer for the Trojans (12-3) with 24 points, while Karlyn Snider had 15 and Kayla Cripps had 10.
Hill scores 35 for Royals in win over BCLUW
COLO — The Colo-NESCO boys basketball team won a cross-conference matchup against BCLUW on Saturday night, 69-28.
Matthew Hill had a double-double of 35 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Royals, while Jacob Clatt followed with 10.
