SPORTS SHORTS: Rebel girls soccer has 6 on all-district
The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck had six girls selected to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association soccer all-district teams.
Audrey Leyen, Carsen Hamann, Jacque Kuester, Maddie McMartin, Megan Swanson and Sydney Mathews were all given second-team honors on the Class 1A team for the Rebels after the team made it to the regional semifinals, where they lost to Center Point-Urbana.
South Tama County/East Marshall had three girls make the 2A second team: Emily Terrones, Sadie Smith and Savanna Lopez.
Kacee Hamor and Terrones of STC/EM and Leyen for GC/G-R were all featured on the Academic All-State teams.
Bobcat Club holding summer luncheon
The Bobcat Quarterback Club will hold a summer luncheon on June 29 at Wayward Social Eats & Alleys.
Marshalltown High School head baseball coach Steve Hanson and head softball coach Jim Palmer will be on hand to interact with Bobcat fans during a noon luncheon catered by Zeno’s Pizza at a cost of $8.50 per person.

MHS volleyball hosting skills camp
The Marshalltown Bobcat volleyball staff will be hosting the coaches of Midwest Performance Volleyball for individual skills camps July 25-27. The camp is open to all area girls going into grades 6-12.
Camp directors include Kaylee Manns, a former Iowa State All-American, Emily Brown, former Big 12 Freshman of the year for Kansas University and Allison Mayfield, a former outside hitter for Kansas University. All three former players are currently on the international circuit.
The high school camp for girls entering grades 9-12 will be from 8:30 a.m.-noon and cost $85 per camper, while the junior high session for grades 6-8 will run from 1-3 p.m. and cost $50 per athlete.
