Fant named preseason All-American by the AP

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa junior tight end Noah Fant has been named to the first team on the Associated Press preseason All-America team.

Fant led all FBS tight ends in 2017 with an average of 16.5 yards per catch and 11 touchdown receptions. Fant also ranked second for the Hawkeyes with a career-high 30 receptions, and is one of six Big Ten Conference players named to the AP first team.

Fant has also been named to the preseason Big Ten honors list and the watch list for the John Mackey Award, which goes to the nation’s top tight end, and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.

Hawkeye linebacker Josie Jewell was named to the AP preseason first-team last season, while he and cornerback Josh Jackson were both given first-team All-American honors following the year.
