No. 21 Drake women wallop Clarke 91-43

DES MOINES — Becca Hittner scored 23 points to lead the No. 21 Drake women’s basketball team past Clarke College 91-43 on Tuesday.

Sara Rhine had 22 points, making all 10 of her shots for Drake (8-1). A record crowd of 6,031 at the Knapp Center was on hand for the annual game for elementary and middle school students.

Tina Ubl led Clarke (7-3) with 14 points and Makenna Haase added 12 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks.

The Bulldogs led 52-22 at halftime and held Clarke to just nine points in the third quarter.

Drake shot 59 percent from the field and made 9 of 18 from 3-point range.

The Bulldogs, who led the country in assists coming into the game, had 29. Maddie Monahan had seven of them.

UNI 64, North Dakota 60

CEDAR FALLS — Karli Rucker’s layup with 30 seconds left gave the Northern Iowa women’s basketball team a two-possession lead and the Panthers held on for a 54-50 win over North Dakota on Tuesday at the McLeod Center.

Mikaela Morgan finished with a team-high 17 points for the Panthers (5-3), going 9-for-9 at the free-throw line to help UNI seal the win. Ellie Howell added 13 points and six rebounds, while Rucker finished with 12 points.

Lexi Klabo led all scorers with 21 points for North Dakota (2-5).

UNI is off for 12 days before traveling to face Iowa on Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.
