Panthers pour in 15 3s to pound Purple Aces 95-46

CEDAR FALLS — The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team dropped in 15 3-pointers en route to a 95-46 rout of Evansville on Sunday afternoon at the McLeod Center.

With head coach Tanya Warren and matching contributors pledging to donate to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund with every 3-pointer the Panthers made, UNI (17-9, 10-4) went out and shot 15-for-34 from distance in a decisive defeat of Evansville (3-23, 1-14) in Missouri Valley Conference play.

Nicole Kroeger and Mikaela Morgan made four 3-pointers apiece and led the Panthers with 22 and 16 points, respectively. Karli Rucker added 12 points, Cynthia Wolf added 11 off the bench and Bre Gunnels finished with 10 points in the wire-to-wire UNI win.

Kerri Gasper led the visiting Purple Aces with 14 points.

Northern Iowa goes on the road next weekend in MVC play with games Friday at Missouri State and Sunday at Southern Illinois.
