Tigers can’t catch Southeastern, 75-67

Goran Vidovic

The Marshalltown Community College men’s basketball team suffered its sixth loss in as many Iowa Community College Athletic Conference games, falling 75-67 to No. 24 Southeastern on Saturday night.

Goran Vidovic scored a game-high 23 points to help the host Tigers (12-14, 0-6) rally from a 20-point deficit in the second half. MCC fought back to within one but couldn’t get over the hump, remaining winless in ICCAC play.

Vidovic made four 3-pointers and was 11-for-14 from the free-throw line. Bassirou Ndiaye and Kelton Edwards both tallied 11 points, while Juan Coffi came up with eight points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in the loss.

MCC led only once in the game at 5-4 and trailed on the scoreboard for the final 34 minutes, 48 seconds.

DeAndre Barton and Steven Cager led Southeastern (21-4, 6-1) with 13 points apiece, and AJ Cox and Kelvon Fuller both finished with 12.

MCC plays its final road game of the regular season with Saturday’s trip to Council Bluffs and a showdown with Iowa Western (20-6, 2-4).
