Redhawks, Trojans win golf meets

TRAER — The North Tama boys and South Tama girls won their respective golf meets against GMG on Thursday at Traer Golf and Country Club.

The North Tama boys got a medalist round of 5-over-par 40 for Paden Ketter, leading the Redhawks to a 180-183 win in Iowa Star Conference action. Skyler Staker and Michael Bell added rounds of 46 for North Tama, and Jack Dostal added a 48 in the victory.

GMG’s Ryan Hunt earned runner-up medalist honors with his 45, while Aaron Fleming and Kolton Gill also shot 45s for the Wolverines. Kamrin Chizek rounded out the team score with a 48.

On the girls’ side, South Tama cruised to a 212-290 win over GMG. The Trojans swept all the hardware as Madison Rohach was the medalist with her 45 and Gwen Upah was runner-up with a 52.

Taylor Ray (56) and Ashlyn Laybon (58) rounded out South Tama’s team scoring.

GMG was led by Megan Kohn’s 65. Lily Harris carded a 74, Rachel Slifer shot 75 and Jayden Hessenius added a 76 for the Wolverines.

North Tama had just two golfers, as Daelynn Powell shot a 64 and Molly Vogeler finished out with a 70.
