IRVING, Texas — Iowa State running back Breece Hall was chosen as the Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week after his performance his against West Virginia.

The true freshman rushed for a career-high 132 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 38-14 win.

The Wichita, Kan., native’s three rushing touchdowns broke the Iowa State school record for rushing touchdowns by a freshman and is one of four FBS true freshmen to record a three-touchdown game this season. His 132-yard performance also ranks as seventh-best single-game total by a FBS true freshman.

Hall is also the first Cyclone to record a 100-yard rushing game since David Montgomery in 2016 and now leads the team with 216 rushing yards.

Iowa State will go on the road to Lubbock, Texas, and face Texas Tech on Saturday with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
