FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown girls’ bowling team broke the school record for the second time this season and won the CIML Iowa Conference meet title on Friday at Ridgewood Lanes.

Bobcat junior Kylee Witt came through with a pair of career-high games and her best series yet, and senior Hannah Slifer’s season-best series helped the pair of Marshalltown bowlers finish second and third individually. Witt picked up silver with her 245-237–482 series and Slifer got the bronze with her 224-195–419. Sophomore Sydney Dannen also scored a medal in 10th place, posting a career-high game in her 130-212–342 series.

Waukee’s Lauren Daley rolled a 2-5-278–483 for the conference crown, helping the Warriors chase the Bobcats to the team title.

Marshalltown finished with a new school record of 2,687 for first place, Waukee was just 15 pins back in second place with 2,672, and host Fort Dodge was another 26 pins back in third with 2,646.

Fort Dodge poured it on with a 968 total in the five Baker games, getting three games of 200 or more to bring the Dodgers to within a few frames of Marshalltown and Waukee. The Bobcats staggered at the end of Bakers, rolling a 141, but it was just enough to hold off the Warriors.

Southeast Polk (2,381), Valley (2,327) and Mason City (2,018) rounded out the final team standings.

Also scoring for the Bobcats (14-2) in the conference meet were freshman Madison Pickett with a 151-158–309 and senior Ashly Wiegand’s 142-159–301. Junior Emily Diggins totaled 144-127–271 in the team’s last tune-up before the state-qualifying meet on Tuesday at Wayward Social.
