Snider signs with UNI softball

Brooke Snider

Four games into her sophomore season, Indian Hills Community College softball standout Brooke Snider found her fit for the future.

Snider signed with the University of Northern Iowa softball program, the school announced on Friday via its Twitter account. The 2018 West Marshall High School graduate is the reigning National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division II Region XI Player of the Year and was off to another hot start in her second season with the Warriors.

Snider hit five home runs, including a grand slam, during Indian Hills’ first four games last weekend, earning her the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week honor as the Warriors went 3-1. Snider went 9-for-13 at the plate with a double, five homers, eight runs scored and nine RBIs, batting .692 with a whopping 1.923 slugging percentage.

As a freshman, Snider scored NJCAA All-America second-team selection and was a second-team academic all-region honoree as well after hitting .434 in her rookie campaign. Snider was 82-for-189 at the plate in 54 games last spring, racking up 13 doubles, two triples, 27 home runs and 77 RBIs while scoring 61 times.

Snider, a Rhodes native, bats leadoff and plays second base for Indian Hills after flourishing as a third baseman during her West Marshall playing days.
