Rebels dash past Baxter in 2nd half

BAXTER — Keagan Giesking ran for 324 yards and seven touchdowns as the ninth-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck football team outscored Baxter 40-0 in the second half to collect a 62-28 victory in 8-Man District 5 play here Friday night.

Baxter (1-4) led 28-22 at the half before going scoreless after the intermission, as the Gladbrook-Reinbeck defense made three of its four interceptions following the break.

Giesking averaged 12 yards on 27 carries, going into the end zone from 14, 48, 4, 46, 53, 3 and 4 yards away to propel the Rebels (5-0) to a 48-28 lead. Drake Blakesley tallied a pair of touchdown runs in the fourth and had one of G-R’s four interceptions to finish off the host Bolts.

Baxter quarterback Cody Damman finished 16-for-26 passing for 235 yards with four touchdowns. Rory Heer rushed 15 times for 73 yards and also reeled in nine passes for 108 yards and two scores.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck goes on the road to face HLV next Friday night in Victor before closing the regular season at home Oct. 9 against GMG.
