ST. LOUIS — Drake women’s basketball player Grace Berg has been named the initial Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the MVC announced Monday.

Berg, a redshirt sophomore, poured in a career-high 24 points during her Drake debut on Wednesday against Creighton. Berg shot 10-for-18 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers to go with seven rebounds and three assists.

The Missouri transfer and Indianola native followed up her hot start with 10 points and three boards in Saturday’s loss at Green Bay.

Berg and the Bulldogs host Iowa on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at the Knapp Center in Des Moines.
