IOWA CITY — University of Iowa men’s basketball players Luka Garza and Joe Wieskamp have both been named to the John Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List.

On Monday, Garza received the first Big Ten Conference Player of the Week honor after averaging 33.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3 blocks in wins over North Carolina Central and Southern. The All-American senior center has scored at least 20 points in 18 straight games dating back to last season.

Wieskamp, a junior, is averaging 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in two games this season. Last month he was one of 20 shooting guards named to the 2021 Jerry West Award Watch List.
