LE GRAND — Callyn Curphy’s one-out double in the bottom of the eighth inning drive in Morgan Neuroth as the game’s only run and the East Marshall softball team defeated West Marshall 1-0 in a non-conference clash.

Neuroth led off the inning by reaching safely on an error, and she moved up a base on Rayne McIlrath’s sacrifice bunt. Emma Pfantz also reached base on an error, and Curphy came up with the game-winning RBI.

Neuroth earned the win for East Marshall (4-6), allowing just three singles and two walks while striking out 11. Madeline Karsjen got the loss, surrendering an unearned run on four hits and two walks, striking out one.

Curphy was 2-for-4 to account for half of the Mustangs’ hits. Jayleigh Pansegrau and Ellie Hull both added singles.

Clara Dee, Lilly Buck and Avery Randall each had a hit for West Marshall (4-8), which only advanced one runner as far as third base.
