MCC names interim head coaches for its new sports

Marshalltown Community College has named its interim head coaches for the initial seasons of women’s soccer and Esports, announcing Allie Osmundson and Andrew Goforth to helm the Tigers’ new endeavors starting with the fall semester.
Osmundson brings with her coaching experience from the NCAA Division I level as well as NJCAA, high school and club. Osmundson, a 2005 Marshalltown High School graduate, currently serves as an assistant girls’ soccer coach at MHS.
Osmundson, an academic advising specialist at MCC, served as a volunteer assistant coach to the University of Illinois women’s soccer program from 2015-2017. She provided on-field instruction, led small group and individual training sessions, coordinated recruitment visits, prepared scouting reports and managed player wellness data.
She also served as an assistant coach with the MCC men’s soccer squad from 2011-2014 and was the head girls’ soccer coach at Marshalltown High School from 2012-2015.
Osmundson played soccer at Missouri State University, earning all-Missouri Valley Conference honors three times. She was the MVC’s Player of the Week twice and a member of the MVC All-Tournament Team in 2007.
Goforth is a lifelong student of gaming, having played and competed in video games since the age of 9, when is father took him to the Midwestern Pokémon tournament.
Goforth competed for the CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) team [trs] — therubysquare.com — in the game Counter-Strike: Source. He also took part in competitive and mythic raiding on World of Warcraft for 15 years, achieving several number 1, top 10 and top 1-percent parses during his tenure.
Goforth is a member of the English faculty at MCC.
