Iowa punter nabs weekly B1G award

Tory Taylor

IOWA CITY — Iowa punter Tory Taylor has been named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week following his Saturday’s 20-14 victory over Purdue. It is Taylor’s fourth career honor.

Taylor punted six times, averaging 47.3 yards per punt. Two of his six punts went over 50 yards and two were downed inside the 20-yard line. None of his six punts were touchbacks.

Taylor ranks first in the conference and seventh in the country in average yards per punt (48.0).

This marks the third time this season that Hawkeye football players have earned Big Ten weekly recognition. Cooper DeJean (special teams) and Nick Jackson (defense) were recognized after last week’s win over Michigan State and Sebastian Castro (defense) was honored following the Hawkeyes’ triumph at in-state rival Iowa State.

Starting at $4.38/week.
