SPORTS SHORTS: GMG softball blanked at BGM triangular

BROOKLYN — The GMG softball team couldn’t keep up with a pair of non-conference foes and fell twice in a round-robin tournament hosted by BGM on Saturday. The Wolverines (3-6) lost 2-0 to host BGM before getting outscored 9-5 by Cardinal.

BGM (6-1) scratched out single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to get all the offense it needed in support of Cara Arment, who pitched a one-hitter for the host Bears. Arment struck out 10, walked none, and her defense made no errors behind her.

GMG hurler Riah Boege struck out 11 and walked one, with BGM scoring two unearned runs on six hits. Natalie Upah had the Wolverines’ only single in the loss.
