Bobcat girls wrestle to 4th place at BGM
BROOKLYN — The Marshalltown girls’ wrestling team went 2-2 on Saturday to finish fourth in the BGM Duals.
The Bobcats went 2-1 in pool play before falling to Ames, 66-12, in the third-place match. Marshalltown defeated Mid-Prairie 39-36, lost to Gilbert 48-30, and edged Colfax-Mingo 33-30, to reach the third-place contest despite having five open weights.
Leading the way for MHS on the day was Nintee Tarr, who went 4-0 with four pins at 145 pounds. Kaitlyn Yepez (110), Rayna Bastidas (115), Meya Roberts (155) and Genevieve Lantigua (190) all went 3-1, including two pins apiece for Bastidas, Roberts and Lantigua.
Velkis Zelaya was 2-2 with two wins by fall.
Next up for the Bobcat girls’ is their home opener on Tuesday night against Mason City at the Roundhouse.
