MHS mows down DM Roosevelt

DES MOINES — The Marshalltown boys’ wrestling team steamrolled into the holiday break with a 53-24 triumph over Des Moines Roosevelt on Thursday night.

The Bobcats improved to 10-4 in dual meets by piling up six wins by pinfall in the Iowa Alliance Conference victory. All nine match wins for Marshalltown came with bonus points thanks to a technical fall and two Des Moines Roosevelt forfeits.

The Bobcats trailed in the early stages of the dual and found themselves on the wrong side of an 18-17 scoreboard at the midway point. Marshalltown marched from there, getting six points in six consecutive wins to take a commanding victory.

Marshalltown’s pins came from Lucas Bantz (126 pounds), Nicholas Wise (132), Carson Wright (150), Dalton Zednichek (175), Michael Narvaez Correa (190) and Johan Gomez (215). Damien Rodriguez’s 17-2 technical fall at 113 was the longest-lasting Bobcat win of the night, going 4 minutes, 33 seconds, before reaching the 15-point threshold.
