Bobcat boys blast Hoover in boys tennis opener

DES MOINES — The Marshalltown boys’ tennis team made quick work of Des Moines Hoover, sweeping aside the host Huskies for an 11-0 triumph in Thursday’s season-opening dual meet in Des Moines.

The Bobcats only lost “maybe 12 points” according to head coach James Christensen as every Marshalltown win was of the 6-0, 6-0 variety.

MHS got singles wins from Isaac Benscoter, Jacob Thiessen, Dale Greene, Carson Snyder, Jacob Christen and Adam Boone. In doubles play, Benscoter and Thiessen paired up to win at No. 1; Greene and Snyder scored the sweep at No. 2; while Christen and Boone won at No. 3.

Will Swartz and Kyle Smith combined to win at No. 4 doubles, while Tayven Dutton and Isaac Seberger were victorious at No. 5.

The Bobcats, ranked 10th in Class 2A by the Iowa High School Boys Tennis Coaches, are back on the road for their next dual on Tuesday against Des Moines East.
