UNI women get a dozen home games before MVC
CEDAR FALLS — The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team announced its 2024-25 non-conference schedule, consisting of 12 matchups starting with an exhibition contest October 20 against Quincy and finishing with a matchup at Iowa on December 20.
Included is a three-game stretch at the 2024 Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Panthers will open the season on October 29 with an exhibition matchup inside the McLeod Center against Quincy. A matchup with Wisconsin-La Crosse follows on November 5 in a rematch of last season’s season-opening exhibition matchup. The Panthers and the Eagles will face off for the ninth time ever and the first time since 1982.
UNI hits the road to Green Bay on November 9. A two-game homestand follows, welcoming Ball State to town on November 16 and then the Iowa State Cyclones on November 20. That matchup tips off at 6 p.m. inside the McLeod Center.
The Panthers head South over Thanksgiving weekend for the 2024 Paradise Jam Island Tournament. This will be the first time the Northern Iowa women’s basketball team has competed in this event since its inception in 2000. The Island Tournament tips off on Thanksgiving Day (November 28) when the Panthers will take on the Auburn Tigers in the first all-time meeting in program history.
November 29 will feature a matchup between the Panthers and Kansas in the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs and the first since 2006, when Kansas defeated the Panthers 59-49 in Lawrence, Kan.
Northern Iowa rounds out the tournament on November 30 in its first-ever matchup against Pittsburgh.
A matchup against the Creighton Bluejays will be played inside the McLeod Center on December 7, before South Dakota comes to town on December 10.
The Panthers’ non-conference slate rounds out with two games on the road, starting with a matchup at South Dakota State on December 14 and a Friday night matchup at Iowa on December 20.
