SPORTS SHORTS: Bluejays salvage tie with Bobcat boys soccer

PERRY — Marshalltown boys soccer surrendered a goal in the final seconds of Monday’s 4-4 tie with Perry at Perry High School.
The Bobcats (3-5-1) led 4-2 with 13 minutes left in the game before the Bluejays (3-2-3) rallied back, extending the Bobcats’ winless streak to six games. The equalizer landed in the back of the net for Perry with 13 seconds remaining.
Joel Ortiz had two goals while David Monge Sanchez and Luis Monge Jr. added one goal each for MHS.
Jonathan Nunez made 13 saves in net for the Bobcats.
Marshalltown competed at Waterloo East on Tuesday and will be back in action at Ankeny on Monday, April 28.
Iowa to play in 2025 Acrisure Series
IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa men’s basketball program will compete in the 2025 Acrisure Series on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 in Palm Desert, Calif., it was announced Monday by Total Sports Consulting. The event will be played at Acrisure Arena.
The Hawkeyes will play two games against a loaded field. Confirmed teams for the event include: Colorado, Minnesota, Utah, Stanford, Washington, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Jose State, California Baptist, San Diego, Nevada, Loyola-Chicago, Tulsa and Northern Iowa.
The schedule for the tournament is still being finalized as pods and matchups will be announced at a later date.
All games will be televised on TNT Sports, truTV or MAX.
