UNI names McDermott as Director of Operations

Nicole McDermott
CEDAR FALLS — The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team announced the hiring of Nicole McDermott as the Director of Operations on Wednesday.
In this role, McDermott will be responsible for all aspects of team travel, equipment, facility scheduling, volunteer work, and special events, and will be in charge of student managers and the Playmakers Club.
“We are so excited to welcome Nicole into our Panther family,” said head coach Tanya Warren. “She had an outstanding college career and throughout her experiences she continued to excel on and off the court. Being a product of our great state, it’s always fun to welcome another Iowan into our program.”
McDermott played collegiately at Clarke University, where she was a three-year starter for the Pride. She scored 505 points in her final year at Clarke — fifth-most in program history — and ranks in the top-10 in 14 career marks.
McDermott was named NAIA second-team All-American in helping Clarke win the 2023 national championship.
In her lone season as a graduate transfer at Quincy University, McDermott led the team in scoring (16.0), steals (1.4), offensive rebounds (87), field goals made (170), free-throws made (156), and 3-point percentage (.398).
McDermott was an all-state selection at Cascade High School, where she helped the Wildcats win a Class 2A state title in 2018.
“I’m beyond excited to join the UNI women’s basketball family as the Director of Basketball Operations,” said McDermott. “I’m looking forward to getting started with an incredible staff and supporting our student-athletes both on and off the court. Go Panthers!”
