Becht, Konrardy gain Big 12 weekly honors

AMES — Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and kicker Kyle Konrardy was tabbed Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Five different Cyclones have now received a weekly honor from the league this season. This marks the second Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honor of Konrardy’s career.

Becht had a record-setting day under center in Iowa State’s 55-7 victory over South Dakota. He completed 95 percent of his passes (19-of-20) which broke the school record for completion percentage in a game. It also matched Baker Mayfield’s mark (vs. UTEP, 2017) for the second-best completion percentage in Big 12 history.

Becht threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns against the Coyotes.

As good as Becht’s day was, it was Konrardy who stole the show just before halftime with a 63-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.

Konrardy’s kick was the second-longest field goal in Big 12 history and tied for the ninth-longest in NCAA history. It was just the third 63-plus yard field goal in FBS football since 2000.

Konrardy was also 4-of-4 on extra point attempts.

Starting at $4.38/week.
