WEEK 1: Boswell leads East Marshall football past BCLUW

LE GRAND — East Marshall junior quarterback Jaxson Boswell threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for three scores as the Mustangs opened the season with a 42-20 victory over BCLUW on Friday night.

The Mustangs scored in all four quarters to rack up the most points either team has scored in the series since 2015. Boswell was 11-for-19 passing for 150 yards, hitting Blake Neuroth four times for 85 yards and both TDs. Eli Burns had four grabs for 36 yards, and Cody Weaver had two catches for 28 yards.

On the ground, Boswell had 13 runs for 75 yards and three scores. Kaden Grant had 11 carries for 66 yards, and Weaver had a 2-yard touchdown run.

Neuroth led the defense with 8.5 tackles, while Weaver had Wyatt Stalzer had six apiece. Stalzer had a quarterback sack and two tackles for loss, and Weaver added an interception.

No statistics were available for BCLUW as of press time.

West Marshall falls at South Hardin, 28-7

ELDORA — The South Hardin football team held West Marshall scoreless until the fourth quarter of a 28-7 victory over the Trojans in Friday’s season opener.

South Hardin quarterback Peyton Welch threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns, hitting Casey Williamson four times for 63 yards and a score. Sam Benson had five catches for 129 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown.

West Marshall quarterback Blayk Hart was 4-for-10 for 75 yards with two interceptions. He was the team’s leading rusher with 18 carries for 86 yards. Kinnick Geers had 12 carries for 48 yards and the team’s lone touchdown, and two catches for 40 yards.

Dalton Eldridge and Geers had eight tackles apiece to lead the defense. Eldridge and Beckham DeSotel had two quarterback sacks each.
